Terms of Service
Last updated: July 2026
1. Acceptance of Terms
By accessing or using Specboard (the "Service"), operated by Specboard ("we", "us", or "our"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.
2. Description of Service
Specboard is a Software-as-a-Service product that generates structured technical specifications (specs) from raw input such as meeting notes or audio recordings, using third-party large language model (LLM) providers.
3. Account Registration
You must provide accurate, current, and complete information during registration and keep your account credentials secure. You are responsible for all activity that occurs under your account.
4. Subscription and Payment
- Paid plans are billed monthly in advance via Stripe. The current price is shown on the pricing page.
- Your 14-day free trial begins on account creation and converts to a paid subscription only when you choose to start one via the checkout flow.
- You may cancel at any time via the Stripe customer portal. Cancellations take effect at the end of the current billing period; we do not offer prorated refunds for partial months.
5. Acceptable Use
You agree not to:
- Use the Service to generate content that is unlawful, harmful, or fraudulent.
- Upload content you do not have the right to share (e.g. confidential client material you are not authorized to process).
- Attempt to reverse-engineer, clone, or build a competing service from the Service or its outputs.
- Abuse rate limits or otherwise attempt to disrupt Service availability.
6. Intellectual Property
You retain ownership of the content you upload and the specs generated from it. You grant us a limited, non-exclusive license to process your content as necessary to provide the Service. We retain ownership of the Service itself — its UI, code, and underlying systems.
7. Third-Party Processors
To provide the Service, we transmit your inputs to third-party processors:
- OpenRouter — for LLM spec generation (text only). No content is used to train their models.
- Stripe — for payment processing and subscription management.
- Resend — for transactional email (welcome, receipts).
- Linear — for OAuth-based issue export (only if you connect your Linear workspace).
8. Disclaimers and Limitation of Liability
THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED "AS IS" WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND. SPECS GENERATED BY THE SERVICE ARE AI OUTPUT AND SHOULD BE REVIEWED BY A QUALIFIED HUMAN BEFORE BEING TREATED AS AUTHORITATIVE.
TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, OUR TOTAL LIABILITY UNDER THESE TERMS SHALL NOT EXCEED THE GREATER OF (A) THE FEES YOU PAID US IN THE 12 MONTHS PRECEDING THE CLAIM OR (B) $100.
9. Termination
We may suspend or terminate your account if you materially breach these Terms. You may terminate at any time by cancelling your subscription and requesting account deletion via the settings page or by emailing us.
10. Changes to Terms
We may update these Terms. Material changes will be notified via email at least 14 days before they take effect. Continued use of the Service after the effective date constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.
